THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MIRROR

A swirl of spring-colored costumes on racks. A pile of lobster claws stacked by rose garden arches and masks of bunny heads. It’s backstage at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, before a performance of Texas Ballet Theater’s Alice in Wonderland.

In this retelling of Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s tale, Alice, performed by company member Alexandra F. Light in the first cast, narrates her journey through the rabbit hole. TBT presented the show in Dallas last week, and is bringing it this week to Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall.

Leading up to the show were hours of rehearsals, warm-ups, makeup sessions, fittings, sound checks and, of course, full run-throughs of the ballet.
