PATRICIA FREEMAN GETS A NEW HOME

Patricia Freeman parted ways with staff at The Bridge and celebrated her move into her new apartment in the same way—with dance moves and prayer

Freeman jumped up and down with excitement after receiving the key to her new apartment in south Dallas on November 19, 2021.

She hasn’t had her own place in two years and in that time had shared a room at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center for more than 6 months.

Her new home is part of the efforts of a $72 million rapid rehousing program that aims to give rental subsidies to more than 2,700 homeless people in Dallas and Collin counties over the next two years. The program, overseen by the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, is financially supported through private money and a partnership that includes Dallas, Dallas County, Mesquite and Plano.
